Summer Reading 2017!
Please join us for Summer Reading Parties on Tuesday, July 18th, and Monday, August 21st, from
10 a.m.-12 p.m., at the Ocean County Library - Long Beach Island Branch. We will have crafts, refreshments, guest readers, a library tour, and scavenger hunt. You will also have an opportunity to register for a library card.
We would also like to present our Summer Reading Program. As a parent, you play an important role in fostering a love of reading. Strive to motivate your child to find time to read. This will increase their comprehension skills and vocabulary. Here are the required number of books to read for the following grades:
- Fourth Grade students entering Fifth Grade should read a minimum of one novel from the Scholastic Summer Reading Book List.
- Fifth Grade students entering Sixth Grade should read a minimum of two novels from the book list.
Please review the following link for Scholastic Summer Reading Book suggestions for all grade levels:
- Students should not read Raymie Nightingale by Kate DiCamillo and Wonder by RJ Palacio, as they will be used in classroom activities.
Students - please make sure to indicate what book(s) you read, and have this information with you upon your return to school in September.
