My name is Sarah Esarey, and I am currently a first grade teacher at the Ethel Jacobsen School. I came to EJ after having taught in Middlesex County for several years. Throughout my career, I have taught in various environments. I have taught children who were home schooled, unable to leave the hospital, in pull-out programs, and in the regular classroom setting. When I first started teaching on the island, I was an in-class support and resource room teacher. After completing my first school year in district, I was moved to first grade and couldn't be happier. As an educator, my goal is to encourage children to learn while having a good time doing so. I am a life long learner and enjoy working hard to make learning fun!
I grew up on the water in Tuckerton Beach; therefore, my early years in education were spent in a beach community. I attended Tuckerton Elementary School and Pinelands Regional High School. I completed my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education at Wesley College in Dover, Delaware and later gained my Special Education certification at Kean University in Union, New Jersey. I have been teaching since 2004 and love every minute of every day!
Now let me tell you a little bit about me personally. I am married to my soul-mate, Will Esarey. We met in 2004 and got married in November of 2011. We are a family of four and cherish every adventure we take together. Our oldest daughter is Charlotte. She is bright, shy, and a heart snatcher! Cora is our youngest, and she is smart, courageous, and a lovable monster! We enjoy spending time outside, whether it be in our backyard, the park, or out on the bay. Keeping physically and mentally active are things we enjoy doing. Our family would not be complete without our fur-baby, Daisy. She is our newest addition and she sure keeps us all on our toes!
Please contact me with any concerns, suggestions or ideas you feel I should be aware of. I look forward to being a part of your child's life here at the EJ School.
