    Welcome to Second Grade! 
    My goal for us this year is to learn and have fun. I'm looking forward to meeting all of you, and I look forward to a successful year together.
    Please visit this page for classroom information and updates. You will also find links to online games and activities which will reinforce the skills we are learning in our classroom. I will be using this page and google classroom throughout the year to keep you informed and up to date on all our classroom happenings!

    Spelling Test- Vowel Team (ea, ee) Friday, December 3rd

    This Week in 2nd Grade
    November 29th- December 3rd
    ELA -  This week in ELA we will introduce our Lesson 5 story-  Teacher's Pets By Dayle Ann Dodds.
    MATH- This week in math we will continue to work in Topic 4 - Model and Add 2 Digit Numbers We will complete lessons( 4.5-4.8) this week.  Our Topic 4 Math Test is scheduled for next Tuesday, December 7th. 

    Orton/Spelling- This week we will be introducing the vowel team (ea, ee) Coming home in Homework Folders on Monday 11/29 will be our two-week Spelling/ELA Study Guide.  Our second graders will be given 8 spelling words to practice this week for a test on Friday.  Be sure to also practice your RED WORDS daily.  Red Words this week are (they're and live) 

    Social Studies- This week in Social Studies we will be introducing our new unit - Unit 2-
    Science- This week we second graders will be introduced to our new Science Topic- TOPIC 2 Changing Matter.  Students will be observing the change in matter. 
    Homework will be assigned nightly and will consist of 15-20 minutes of reading.  Students are encouraged to read daily and fill out their monthly reading log calendar.  Our goal is to read 300 minutes each month! Reading log calendars are due at the end of each month.  Also Monday-Thursday nights students will receive basic math fact practice or the daily math lesson assignment.  These assignments should take no more than 15 minutes.   There is no homework assigned over the weekend. Please check your child's agenda to view their assignments or notes from the teacher.
