English Language Arts- Grade 5- Mrs. Townsend

  • September

This month we are getting used to switching classes and new routines. In ELA we are setting up our Reader's, Writer's, and Language Interactive Notebooks that we use in class for notes. Students are also taking some assessments to show what they know as they enter fifth grade. They will participate in a Grammar Boot Camp with engaging interactive activities to review the parts of speech. We will also start our Mentor Sentence, where we analyze examples of mentor text while studying grammar and language skills. Finally, we are going to build a community of readers where we get excited about books. Students are going to challenge themselves to read more than they ever have before!

Step into the wonderful world of reading and writing! My classroom and teaching style is designed to respect you as individuals and encourage you to reach your full potential. I understand that everybody is unique and special, and I also recognize that not everyone learns the same way. It is my goal to find the best avenue to help each of you reach your full potential. In order to ensure that everyone receives the optimal experience academically and socially, I take careful consideration before all instruction is planned and implemented. I promise that I will always try my best to make reading and writing engaging and exciting!

I am thrilled to begin this exciting year with all of you! There are so many great things to look forward to and I can’t wait to experience it with all of you!
